My favorite photo from the trip. The gorge has three good drops. This one is, I believe, forty feet high. The first and largest is sixty feet, but getting to the bottom of that one can be dangerous. I decided not to try that one considering how many people have been killed doing the same thing before me. The climb down to the bottom of this waterfall wasn't exactly easy, but safe enough if you're fit enough to do it... and careful enough.

Beautiful shot, great contrast and colors, I love the long shutter speed on this one ;)

What a beautiful shot. I love the way you've cropped it, too. The flow of the water against the perfect stillness of the rocks you were standing on really works well. Did you do any color amplifying/modifying in Photoshop? Where exactly was this taken?

This was taken in the Plotter Kill Preserve in Schenectady, New York.
I did amplify the saturation a little bit, most of the effect came from shooting in enhanced saturation/enhanced contrast mode in the camera.

Well it came out wonderfully, in my opinion! I'd love to get this good with my own photography someday, but that's going to require an investment in a much better camera. ;)

Thank you :) An SLR definitely helps, the only problem is their hefty price tag. The best budget SLR I know of is the d50, which produces identical results to the d70 and d70s, is only about $700 (that includes the lens - and those things are typically worth more than the cameras themselves). You could even go with something like a coolpix, I bought one for my girlfriend as a present a few months ago for under $200 - that thing is awesome, despite everything being buried under menus. Sometimes I have to beg her to let me use it since my giant camera's not exactly that comfortable to bring to certain places =P

The photos you've posted are really good in my opinion :) I have an advantage of living in a gold mine of natural beauty, which I didn't even realize until early this year. I've been meaning to take a better look through your gallery, I don't really have the time to think at the moment though... I'm goofing off at work as I write this =P

Amateur doesn't mean bad :) It just means we don't make money. You seem to know what you're doing, and I would definitely be interested in seeing you do more!
